Tolgee
Self-hostable translation management with an in-context editor. Hold a key, click text in your running app, and edit the actual translation right there.
What is Tolgee?
Tolgee is a translation management platform aimed at closing the gap between "the translation exists in a JSON file somewhere" and "someone non-technical can actually fix a wrong string without filing a ticket." Its signature feature is in-context editing: hold a keyboard shortcut, click on any translated text inside your running app, and edit it directly, with the change flowing back into your translation files. It integrates with common i18n frameworks (i18next, react-intl, and others) rather than replacing them outright.
Key features
- In-context translation editing directly on the running app, not just in a separate dashboard
- Self-hostable if you don't want translation data living on a third-party server
- Integrations with popular i18n libraries so it slots into an existing setup instead of forcing a migration
- Machine translation suggestions to speed up filling in new locales
- Screenshot-based context so translators can see how a string is actually used, not just the raw key
Who it's for
Teams shipping a product in multiple languages where non-developers (founders, translators, support staff) need to fix or add copy without going through a deploy. Overkill for a project with one language and no near-term localization plans.
Pricing
Free and open source if self-hosted; the hosted cloud version has a free tier with paid plans that scale with translation volume and team size.
